French premium fashion brand Lacoste has strengthened its India expansion strategy with the launch of its first store in Northeast India at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, marking a key milestone in its regional retail growth.
Located at Terminal 2 (Domestic SHA D3-36), the new outlet brings the brand’s signature mix of sport and lifestyle to one of the region’s fastest-growing transit hubs. The store features a curated selection of apparel, footwear and accessories for men and women, aimed at capturing rising demand from mobile, premium consumers.
The Guwahati launch signals Lacoste’s entry into an underserved but increasingly aspirational market, with the airport acting as a key gateway to Northeast India. The move aligns with the brand’s broader strategy of targeting high-footfall locations to deepen consumer engagement beyond metros.
Speaking on the launch, Rajesh Jain, MD and CEO of Lacoste India, said: “Guwahati Airport is premium, diverse, and full of momentum, which felt like the right place to begin this chapter.” He added: “When a place has its own style, confidence and point of view, you don’t wait to be invited, you show up and grow with it.”
Lacoste’s India network already spans multiple states through a mix of boutiques, shop-in-shops and franchise-led formats. The Guwahati store extends this footprint into a new geography, reinforcing the brand’s focus on premium retail environments and emerging consumption hubs.
Globally present in over 100 countries, Lacoste continues to scale through strategic locations such as airports, where higher dwell time and a captive audience are driving the next phase of retail growth.
