Chinese coffee giant Luckin Coffee has crossed a major global expansion milestone, with its store network now exceeding 35,000 locations worldwide, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s largest coffee and beverage retail chains by store count.
The achievement marks another significant step in the company’s rapid growth trajectory, driven by its digital-first operating model, high-density urban expansion strategy and standardized store formats that enable fast deployment and efficient service. The milestone comes just months after Luckin opened its 30,000th store in February 2026, when it unveiled its first-ever Origin Flagship Store in Shenzhen. Spanning approximately 420 square metres across two floors, the flagship represented a departure from the company’s traditional small-format, pickup-focused outlets and was designed to showcase coffee culture, product innovation and an enhanced customer experience.
Alongside the store-count milestone, Luckin announced that cumulative sales of its non-coffee beverages had surpassed RMB20 billion as of May 31, underscoring the growing importance of tea-based, fruit-based and specialty beverages within its portfolio. The company revealed that 22 non-coffee beverage products have each sold more than 100 million cups, highlighting strong consumer demand beyond its core coffee offerings.
Among its best-performing beverages, Coconut Latte has sold more than 2.1 billion cups, while Orange Americano has exceeded 500 million cups in sales. Light Jasmine Milk Tea has crossed 400 million cups sold, Little Butter Latte has approached 300 million cups, and Active Apple Kale Tea has surpassed the 100 million-cup mark.
Commenting on the milestone, Luckin said the achievements demonstrate the company’s ability to successfully scale across multiple beverage categories while continuing to strengthen its position in China’s broader beverage market. The company added that continuous product innovation remains central to its growth strategy, enabling it to meet evolving consumer preferences and create products suited to a wide range of consumption occasions.
The expansion has been supported by significant investments in supply chain infrastructure and sourcing capabilities. Luckin sources coffee beans from major producing regions including Brazil, Ethiopia and Indonesia, while also partnering with agricultural regions in China’s Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. Beyond coffee, the company has built sourcing networks for key ingredients used across its expanding beverage portfolio, including coconuts, tea leaves, flowers and fruits.
To support its scale, Luckin has established a comprehensive processing and roasting network that includes a green coffee bean processing facility in Baoshan, Yunnan, along with roasting centres in Qingdao, Kunshan, Pingnan and Xiamen. The infrastructure enables the company to maintain quality control and supply consistency while supporting its rapidly growing store network.
Jinyi Guo, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Luckin Coffee, said: “We delivered a solid start to 2026, supported by disciplined execution of our high-quality, scaled growth strategy. Amid an evolving competitive landscape, we leveraged our end-to-end digital capabilities to expand our store network, grow our customer base, drive consumption and strengthen our supply chain.”
As competition intensifies across China’s coffee and beverage sectors, Luckin’s combination of scale, digital operations, product innovation and integrated supply chain continues to reinforce its leadership position, transforming the company from a coffee-focused retailer into one of the country’s most influential beverage brands.
