Cinnabon is set to enter Germany, with the U.S.-born bakery franchise preparing to open its first German location in October 2026. The launch will mark Cinnabon’s entry into one of Europe’s largest and most competitive bakery and café markets.
The expansion follows a new franchise agreement with CB Germany Holding GmbH, signed by Cinnabon’s parent company GoTo Foods. GoTo Foods International announced the deal as part of its EUMEA growth strategy, with CB Germany Holding taking the brand into the German market.
Founded in Seattle in 1985, Cinnabon built its brand around freshly baked cinnamon rolls, later expanding its menu to include baked goods and specialty beverages. The brand began franchising in 1986 and has since developed an international franchise network spanning more than 60 countries.
Cinnabon’s international growth is built largely around franchising and flexible formats. Its development model includes traditional bakeries as well as smaller formats suited to shopping malls, airports, travel hubs, entertainment venues and other high-traffic locations. GoTo Foods says the brand now has more than 2,300 locations worldwide.
The German launch adds another European market to Cinnabon’s international footprint as the brand continues to pursue franchise-led growth. Germany will also give the company an opportunity to test its highly recognizable cinnamon-roll concept in a market with an established bakery culture and strong consumer traffic across retail and travel locations.
Cinnabon is part of GoTo Foods, the multi-brand franchising company whose portfolio also includes Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Jamba, McAlister’s Deli, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Schlotzsky’s. Cinnabon joined the company’s predecessor Focus Brands in 2004.
The Germany agreement is another example of GoTo Foods using local franchise partners to take established U.S. food brands into new international markets, with Cinnabon already present across a broad network of international territories.
