Monkey Puzzle Taps Clinical Psychology Expertise for New ‘Understanding Your Child’ Campaign

Date:

Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries has launched a new ‘Understanding Your Child’ campaign, partnering with clinical psychologist Dr Morvwen Duncan to give parents expert-led guidance on child development, emotions and behaviour.

The campaign combines an interactive quiz, free webinars, parenting blogs, at-home activities and personalised resources. It is designed to engage parents earlier in their childcare journey while giving them practical information they can use at home.

Parents can explore the resources before being directed to their nearest Monkey Puzzle nursery, where they can find out more and make an enquiry.

Monkey Puzzle Managing Director Grace Cole said the campaign also gives franchisees additional resources to support conversations with prospective families. “This is about giving franchisees valuable resources they can share with prospective families, while allowing parents to discover Monkey Puzzle in a helpful and more meaningful way before making decisions about their child’s next steps,” Cole said.

Duncan, Founder and Lead Clinical Psychologist at The Lotus Psychology Practice, brings more than a decade of NHS experience working with children, young people and families. She has also conducted research at Harvard Medical School, the University of Cambridge and University College London.

Her contribution focuses on helping parents look beyond a child’s behaviour to understand the developmental and emotional factors that may be influencing it.

“One of the things I enjoy most about being a psychologist is helping parents and carers to develop a deeper understanding of their children,” Duncan said. “A significant part of my work is helping people look beneath the behaviour and think about what might be happening developmentally and emotionally.”

For Monkey Puzzle, the partnership forms part of its wider approach to supporting its franchise network through external expertise and specialist resources.

“Early years education is our business and we’re confident in our expertise, but that doesn’t stop us seeking out sector-leading advice, research and innovation from outside our organisation,” Cole said.

The campaign also brings together three perspectives around early childhood, clinical psychology, early years practitioners and parents. Duncan contributes clinical and research expertise, while Monkey Puzzle practitioners observe children’s learning, play and relationships in the nursery environment and parents provide insight into their individual child’s needs.

The initiative therefore extends Monkey Puzzle’s franchise support beyond nursery operations, giving franchisees a centralised resource that can help them engage families and communicate the brand’s approach to child development.

Monkey Puzzle has operated as a childcare franchise since 2005 and has grown its network across the UK, with franchisees supported in areas including training, operations, marketing and property development.

The ‘Understanding Your Child’ campaign is now available through Monkey Puzzle’s website, with webinars, resources and further expert content aimed at helping parents better understand their children’s development and behaviour.
