South Korean coffee chain Mega MGC Coffee has opened its 4,500th store, adding about 500 locations in roughly 10 months as it expands a network that generated average annual franchise-store sales of ₩412.87 million last year.
The milestone outlet, Miryang City Hall branch in South Gyeongsang Province, opened on October 1. The company said it reached 4,000 stores at the end of November 2025. Its website listed 4,508 cumulative openings as of October 1.
The chain began with a store in Seoul’s Hongdae district in 2015, passed 1,000 locations in 2020 and 3,000 in 2024, and reached 4,000 at the end of last year.
Average annual sales at Mega MGC Coffee franchise stores were ₩412.87 million in 2025, according to Korea Fair Trade Commission franchise-disclosure data cited in coverage of the milestone. That was 6.3% higher than in 2024 and about 18% above the level three years earlier. The figure is gross store sales, not franchisee profit; rent, payroll, ingredients, utilities and other operating expenses are not deducted.
At the Miryang opening ceremony, MGC Global Chairman Kim Dae-young, thanked franchisees and customers for supporting the chain’s expansion. “The opening of our 4,500th store is thanks to the support of franchisees and customers who believed in MEGA MGC COFFEE’s differentiated value,” Kim said, according to the company announcement.
He said the company would focus on franchisees’ long-term profitability and strengthening store competitiveness. Mega MGC Coffee says it reviews trading areas and considers existing franchisees’ business rights when assessing new locations. The company also points to seasonal menus and collaborations with character and K-pop brands as ways to attract customers.
The company is also pursuing overseas growth through local partners. In September 2025, MGC Global granted Cambodian company Saisons Brother Holding the master-franchise rights for Cambodia, allowing the local partner to develop the brand there. A Bridge Bank announcement said Saisons had received the rights under a master-franchise agreement and later partnered with the bank on financing for entrepreneurs interested in buying sub-franchises. The arrangement is separate from Mega MGC Coffee’s domestic Korean franchise program.
For prospective franchisees in South Korea, the company’s website lists estimated opening costs of ₩74,235,500 before VAT for a 10-pyeong store, about 33 square metres. The estimate includes a ₩10 million franchise fee, ₩5 million for training, ₩32.542 million for kitchen equipment and fixtures, ₩15 million for interior work, and charges for design, signage and digital menu boards. A 15-pyeong store is listed at ₩80,985,500 before VAT.
The company says furniture is priced separately and that additional expenses may include electrical upgrades, heating and air conditioning, demolition, exterior work, deposits, point-of-sale systems and kiosks. Final costs can vary by location and site conditions.
