Adidas has opened its first Originals Heritage Store in Vietnam, located in the heart of Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The new store occupies a 300-year-old heritage building at 102 Nguyễn Thái Học in Hoi An. Instead of installing a modern glass-and-steel retail concept, the brand chose to adapt to the town’s historic architecture. The space retains Hoi An’s signature yellow walls, traditional tiled roof, original wooden columns and beams, brown wooden doors, and patterned brick flooring. Contemporary adidas display fixtures are carefully integrated with local details such as bamboo-framed lanterns, creating a seamless blend of heritage and modern design.
The store combines fashion, music, art and local culture. Shoppers can access exclusive Made For You customisation experiences, including personalised T-shirts printed with the word “Hội An.” A rooftop area has also been designed for future community gatherings and events.
The opening ceremony reflected Hoi An’s distinctive character. Wooden boats carrying adidas Trefoil flags floated along the Hoai River at sunset, while traditional music was reimagined with contemporary sounds. The evening concluded with a lantern-lit celebration that matched the town’s atmospheric night-time setting.
Adidas first entered the Vietnamese market in 1993 and established its fully owned subsidiary in 2009. The brand currently operates roughly 80 to 90 official retail and outlet stores across the country. In recent years it has expanded its experiential retail presence with the first Brand Center (Home of Sport) at Saigon Centre in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025, a second Home of Sport concept at Vincom Đồng Khởi, a Brand Center in Hanoi, and a dedicated Sala Running Store.
The Hoi An Heritage Store marks a further step in adidas’s localisation strategy in Vietnam, placing the Originals brand inside one of the country’s most culturally significant destinations rather than creating a standard modern retail outlet.
