The UK-born quick-service restaurant brand, which has grown to more than 50 locations across four markets, is targeting India as its next international expansion destination.
UK-based Asian-fusion quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand Oodles Wok is entering India through a strategic partnership with FranGlobal, the international business arm of Franchise India Group, marking its fifth market as the brand accelerates its international franchise expansion.
Announced on October 23, the move will bring Oodles Wok’s freshly prepared Asian-fusion food, live-cooking format and customisable meal boxes to the Indian market. The company currently operates more than 50 locations across the UK, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Canada and Qatar. Specific details about its first Indian locations, launch timeline and outlet rollout targets have not yet been announced.
Founded in Leicester, UK, in 2010, Oodles Wok was established with a focus on freshly prepared food, bold flavours and customer service. The business was built around an Asian-fusion menu combining spices and ingredients from different culinary traditions, with chefs preparing dishes in front of customers. Its signature Build Your Own Box concept allows customers to customise their meals, while its emphasis on live cooking gives the format a more interactive dining experience.
Commenting on the expansion, Shoyab Umar, Founder and CEO of Oodles Wok, said: “Expanding into India as our fifth market is another huge milestone for us, especially with its incredible food culture and appreciation for bold flavours. We’re looking forward to introducing Oodles Wok to a whole new audience and continuing our journey as a global brand.”
India will become the latest addition to a network that has expanded beyond the UK over the past two years. Oodles Wok opened its first international restaurant in Dubai in 2024, followed by its entry into Canada in 2025. The brand subsequently entered Qatar through a master franchise agreement, with restaurants opening in Doha.
Its international expansion has been supported by franchise partnerships, allowing the business to establish a presence in new markets while working with local operators. The India partnership with FranGlobal is the next step in that strategy, although the precise structure of the agreement and the proposed franchise development model for India have not been disclosed.
Oodles Wok operates across three restaurant formats: kiosks of approximately 450 sq. ft., food-court outlets of around 750 sq. ft. and standalone restaurants measuring approximately 1,000 sq. ft. These formats allow the brand to target different types of high-footfall locations, balancing dine-in and walk-in customers with delivery-led business. The company also operates its own production unit for its recipes and sauces, supporting consistency across its network.
“India represents an exciting new chapter in Oodles Wok’s international growth, becoming our fifth market alongside the UK, UAE, Canada and Qatar. We’ve built a strong brand around quality, innovation and understanding what our customers love. As we enter this vibrant market, our focus is on building strong local partnerships, delivering the Oodles Wok experience and creating a brand that Indian customers can connect with,” said Ismail Patel, Co-Founder and COO of Oodles Wok.
For FranGlobal, the partnership adds another international food brand to its India-entry portfolio. The business works with overseas brands seeking to enter and expand in India through local partnerships and franchise-led development.
Oodles Wok’s India plans come as the brand continues to develop its international footprint alongside further growth in its established markets. Its immediate challenge will be to translate a UK-developed menu and operating model for Indian consumers while establishing the local partnerships and supply-chain arrangements needed to support expansion.
