True Palate Eyes Gulf Expansion with Rs 40 Crore Investment Plan

Date:

The Indian hospitality group plans to invest up to Rs 40 crore and expand to 50 outlets by 2030, with franchising set to play a bigger role in its next phase of growth.

True Palate Hospitality, the operator of One8 Commune, Pincode and Neuma, is targeting revenue of Rs 900 crore to Rs 1,000 crore and a network of 50 outlets by 2030, as it looks to expand its restaurant portfolio across India and international markets, including the Middle East.

The company plans to invest between Rs 25 crore and Rs 40 crore in expansion over the next five years. According to reports, True Palate currently operates around 20–22 outlets and generates approximately Rs 200 crore in revenue.

The United Arab Emirates is a key market in its international footprint, with Pincode already operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The brand, developed in association with celebrity chef Kunal Kapur, focuses on Indian regional cuisine, giving the group an established presence in the Gulf’s competitive dining market.

While True Palate has not announced a specific outlet target for the Middle East, its existing UAE operations provide a platform for exploring further international opportunities.

Franchising is expected to become more important as the group scales its brands. True Palate has traditionally relied on joint ventures, generally retaining at least a 51% equity stake alongside local partners. However, the company has decided against entering new joint ventures, with future growth expected to centre on company-owned and franchised outlets.

The strategy could allow True Palate to expand into additional markets through local partners while managing the capital requirements of developing multiple restaurant concepts. However, the company has not disclosed a separate international franchise target or confirmed new franchise agreements in the Middle East.

Its portfolio comprises three distinct concepts. One8 Commune, associated with cricketer Virat Kohli, combines dining with a lifestyle-led experience. Pincode focuses on Indian cuisine, while Neuma operates in the premium dining segment.

The group is taking a selective approach to expansion. One8 Commune’s network is expected to be capped at around 20 outlets, while Pincode is being considered for further growth in India and overseas. Neuma, which has outlets in Mumbai and Kolkata, is also evaluating additional locations.

The investment required varies by concept. Pincode restaurants typically occupy 3,000–4,000 square feet, with estimated investment of Rs 2 crore to Rs 2.5 crore. One8 Commune generally requires 5,000–6,000 square feet, with investment estimated at Rs 5 crore to Rs 6 crore. These figures relate to the Indian formats and should not be treated as confirmed franchise investment requirements for the Middle East.

The company aims to increase its outlet network while maintaining the positioning of its individual brands. Its target of reaching Rs 900 crore to Rs 1,000 crore in revenue by 2030 will depend on new restaurant openings, stronger performance across existing locations and the ability to scale through suitable operating and franchise partnerships.

For the Middle East, the UAE provides an established starting point. The next stage of growth will depend on whether True Palate secures local partners and identifies markets that can support its different dining formats.
