The latest opening takes Pret’s motorway network to eight locations, with six launched in 2026 and three more planned as the coffee chain accelerates its travel-hub expansion through franchising.
Pret A Manger has expanded its partnership with motorway services operator Roadchef with the opening of a new outlet at Tibshelf Northbound Services on the M1 in Derbyshire, taking the number of Pret locations across the Roadchef network to eight.
The latest opening, which has created 10 jobs, operates daily from 7am to 7pm and offers Pret’s range of freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, hot meals, bakery products and barista-prepared drinks. The site also features an on-site kitchen where food is prepared throughout the day.
The Tibshelf launch is the sixth Pret opening through the Roadchef partnership in 2026. The two companies are planning a further three locations this winter at Sandbach Northbound, Norton Canes and Watford Gap Northbound. If completed as planned, these openings will take the partnership’s network to 11 outlets.
Sam Otterburn, Head of Franchise at Pret A Manger, said: “It’s with huge excitement that Pret opens at Roadchef Tibshelf, bringing our Barista-prepared drinks and delicious food that’s made fresh on site, each day to more people travelling along the M1.”
The partnership has also generated more than 50 jobs across Roadchef’s motorway service locations.
The expansion follows an agreement announced in March 2026 to introduce Pret outlets at Rownhams Westbound Services on the M27, Stafford Southbound Services on the M6 and Chester Services on the M56. Additional openings at Taunton Deane on the M5 and Clacket Lane on the M25 have further extended the network.
For Pret, the Roadchef agreement represents an important franchise-led route to expanding beyond conventional high-street locations. By partnering with an established motorway services operator, the coffee and food chain can access high-traffic travel locations while leveraging Roadchef’s existing infrastructure and customer network.
The partnership forms part of Pret’s wider UK expansion strategy, which increasingly uses franchise arrangements to enter new locations and extend its reach without relying exclusively on company-operated stores.
