Golden Corral has appointed Trona Balkissoon as Chief Financial Officer, effective March 26, 2026, marking a key leadership transition as the buffet chain sharpens its focus on long-term growth and franchise performance.
Balkissoon succeeds longtime CFO Jim Laverty, who is retiring after more than four decades with the company. Her elevation follows a year with the brand, having joined in April 2025 as Senior Vice President of Finance.
In her new role, Balkissoon will lead the company’s financial strategy, with a mandate to optimise performance, improve decision-making, and support the health of both corporate and franchised units. The company said her leadership will be central to ensuring disciplined, responsible growth across its system.
Balkissoon brings more than 25 years of global experience from Nestlé, where she most recently served as CFO of its out-of-home division, overseeing operations across the United States and Puerto Rico. Her background spans both retail and foodservice, positioning her to bridge operational and financial strategy within a franchise-led model.
“Trona’s impact has been clear from the moment she joined,” said CEO Lance Trenary, highlighting her ability to combine financial discipline with execution. Balkissoon added that her focus will be on strengthening the franchise system while creating opportunities for teams and maintaining consistent guest experience.
Beyond her corporate role, Balkissoon is active in industry leadership, serving on the executive board of the Women’s Foodservice Forum and contributing to initiatives that advance talent development and representation in foodservice.
The appointment comes at a time when Golden Corral is evolving its business model, investing in technology, and expanding flexible formats such as smaller-footprint concepts aimed at unlocking new franchise opportunities.
