Tim Ho Wan Marks 17 Years of Culinary Excellence with Michelin Bib Gourmand

Date:

Hong Kong–born dim sum chain Tim Ho Wan has celebrated 17 consecutive years in the Michelin Guide, with its Sham Shui Po outlet earning a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Hong Kong & Macau edition. The distinction, awarded to restaurants delivering high-quality food at accessible prices, highlights the outlet’s enduring consistency and reinforces Tim Ho Wan’s reputation as a value-led premium dining concept.

Founded in 2009 by chefs Mak Kwai Pui and Leung Fai Keung, Tim Ho Wan quickly gained global attention after earning a Michelin star within its first year. The brand’s philosophy of authentic, high-quality dim sum at approachableprices, helped it stand out in the casual fine-dining space and win loyal fans across Asia and beyond. Signature dishes such as baked BBQ pork buns and traditional dim sum staples have become internationally recognized favourites.

Today, Tim Ho Wan operates around 80 outlets in more than 10 countries, combining company-owned and franchised locations. Key markets include Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, and North America. Since its acquisition by Jollibee Group in early 2025, the brand has focused on strengthening operational systems, chef training, and quality standards to support global growth without compromising culinary excellence.

“Tim Ho Wan’s recognition in the Michelin Guide reflects the care and discipline behind the brand,” said Ernesto Tanmantiong of Jollibee Group. “We are committed to scaling the concept globally while preserving its heritage and ensuring every guest enjoys an authentic Tim Ho Wan experience.”

The 2026 milestone underscores broader momentum for the brand. System-wide sales have strengthened, and international expansion continues steadily. Tim Ho Wan has re-entered North America with a company-operated store, while franchise growth in Asia remains robust.

The Sham Shui Po recognition highlights a rare achievement in the global restaurant industry: sustaining Michelin-level quality while scaling a value-driven concept internationally. For franchise operators and multi-unit developers, Tim Ho Wan demonstrates how culinary excellence and operational growth can coexist, setting a benchmark for accessible fine dining on a global stage.
