Happy Belly Food Group Inc. has continued the rapid expansion of its Heal Wellness quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand, announcing that it has signed a new franchise agreement with a multi-unit franchisee and secured a retail location in Stratford, Ontario. The latest deal strengthens the company’s presence in Southwestern Ontario as it accelerates the growth of its health-focused franchise network.
The Stratford restaurant will be operated by an existing multi-unit franchise partner, reflecting Happy Belly’s strategy of expanding alongside experienced franchisees while targeting high-growth communities with strong demographic fundamentals. The company said the secured site offers excellent visibility and accessibility, positioning the wellness-focused concept to benefit from daily commuter and local consumer traffic.
“Heal continues to attract experienced franchise partners who recognize the strength of our scalable business model and the growing consumer demand for healthier, convenient food options,” said Sean Black, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Happy Belly Food Group.
Black added that Stratford’s expanding population, vibrant local economy and increasing interest in healthier lifestyles make it an attractive market for the brand’s smoothie bowls, açaí bowls and smoothies. The company believes these demographic trends support long-term sustainable unit performance.
The latest signing forms part of Happy Belly’s asset-light franchise expansion strategy, which prioritizes partnering with experienced operators while securing premium real estate in strategically selected Canadian markets. The company has steadily announced new Heal Wellness agreements across Ontario, Quebec and Alberta during 2025 and 2026 as it builds a national footprint.
Heal Wellness has emerged as one of Canada’s fastest-growing wellness-focused QSR concepts, offering smoothie bowls, smoothies and super-seed grain bowls prepared with ingredients including açaí, pitaya, chia seeds and goji berries. The concept targets consumers seeking convenient, nutritious grab-and-go meals.
According to the company, Heal Wellness currently operates more than 30 restaurants, with over 175 locations in various stages of development across Canada and the United States. The brand contributes to Happy Belly Food Group’s broader development pipeline of 666 contractually committed franchise locations spanning multiple restaurant concepts, including Rosie’s Burgers, Yolks Breakfast and Via Cibo Italian Street Food.
“We are just getting started,” Black said, reiterating the company’s commitment to disciplined expansion and long-term shareholder value through continued franchise development.
The Stratford announcement follows a series of Heal Wellness franchise milestones over the past year, including new agreements and site acquisitions in Woodstock, Montreal, Ottawa and Alberta, highlighting the brand’s continued momentum as Happy Belly expands its portfolio across North America.
