London‑based specialty coffee brand Black Sheep Coffee has signed a major franchise development agreement to open 20 new stores in the United States over the next five years. The expansion will focus on the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex in Texas, marking the brand’s largest US franchise commitment to date.
Under the agreement, existing franchise partner YOLOWAY’s, an established operator within the Black Sheep Coffee network, will lead the rollout of the new outlets across communities including Bedford, Plano, Rowlett, and Grapevine. The stores are expected to open incrementally over the next five years, bringing the brand’s specialty‑grade coffee and distinctive urban café experience to a wider US audience.
YOLOWAY’s partnership with Black Sheep Coffee builds on its experience in the brand’s UK franchise network, where it has played a key role in developing multi‑unit deals and expanding the footprint of the coffee chain. Its involvement in the US rollout reflects Black Sheep Coffee’s strategy of working with experienced franchise operators who understand the brand’s challenger ethos and growth ambitions.
Lewis Blakey, Head of Franchising at Black Sheep Coffee, said the agreement reflects the brand’s commitment to sustainable growth in key US markets. “The Dallas–Fort Worth region is a priority for us due to its population growth and vibrant retail landscape,” he said.
Founded in 2013 by Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth, Black Sheep Coffee was the first specialty coffee company in the UK to focus on 100 percent specialty‑grade Robusta beans, known for their bold flavour profile and smooth finish. Black Sheep Coffee first entered the US market with locations in Texas and Florida and has been steadily building its presence in the Southern states. Today, the brand operates more than 130 locations worldwide and continues to pursue international growth through strategic franchise partnerships.
