358-room Deansgate property strengthens Marriott’s lifestyle hotel footprint as Aloft accelerates growth across Europe

Marriott International has opened Aloft by Marriott Manchester City Centre, the brand’s first hotel in Manchester and its new UK flagship, marking a significant milestone in the continued expansion of the lifestyle-focused Aloft brand across Europe. The hotel is scheduled to welcome guests from 16 June 2026 and becomes the largest Aloft-branded property in Europe, featuring 358 guestrooms in the heart of Manchester’s Deansgate district.

Developed by Dean Street Developments, the hotel occupies a prominent city-centre location overlooking the Manchester skyline. The opening further strengthens Marriott International’s presence in one of the UK’s fastest-growing hospitality markets while bringing the brand’s signature design-led, social-first hospitality concept to one of Britain’s most dynamic urban destinations.

The property has been designed to appeal to a new generation of travellers seeking technology-enabled stays, vibrant social spaces and flexible hospitality experiences. Guests will have access to Re:Fuel by Aloft, the brand’s grab-and-go food and beverage concept, alongside the W XYZ Bar, which will host craft cocktails, live music and social events. Additional amenities include a 24-hour fitness centre, meeting facilities, pet-friendly accommodation through the brand’s Arf® programme, and family-focused experiences under Camp Aloft®.

As part of the Marriott ecosystem, the hotel is fully integrated with Marriott Bonvoy, enabling members to earn and redeem points, access mobile check-in, digital key functionality and other app-based guest services.

Commenting on the launch, Adi Hodzic, Managing Director of Dean Street Developments, said: “This opening is a defining moment for Dean Street Developments, for Aloft by Marriott, and for Manchester’s hospitality landscape. We set out to create a landmark, and we believe we have.”

Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President Brand Management, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, added: “We are delighted to introduce Aloft by Marriott to Manchester, bringing this upscale, lifestyle brand to one of the UK’s most dynamic cities.” She noted that the brand is designed as a social hub and “launching and landing pad” for modern travellers seeking flexibility, creativity and connection during their stay.

The Manchester opening underscores the continued growth of the Aloft Hotels brand, one of Marriott International’s key lifestyle offerings. Aloft operates through a predominantly franchise-led model and has built a strong global presence focused on urban centres and high-demand travel markets. The brand now operates more than 190 hotels across 29 countries and territories, catering to tech-savvy and experience-driven travellers through contemporary design, music programming and digitally enabled guest experiences.

At the parent-company level, Marriott International remains one of the world’s largest hospitality franchisors, operating and franchising nearly 8,200 properties across more than 30 brands in 138 countries and territories. The opening of Aloft Manchester reflects Marriott’s broader strategy of expanding lifestyle and select-service brands through a combination of franchise partnerships, management agreements and strategic development relationships.

Manchester has emerged as one of the UK’s most attractive hotel investment and tourism markets, driven by strong business travel demand, major sporting events, cultural attractions and a growing visitor economy. Marriott’s decision to establish its UK Aloft flagship in the city highlights confidence in the destination’s long-term hospitality growth prospects.
