Drama Kids Canada is stepping up its franchise expansion with six franchise units now in operation, as Brampton franchise owner Sindhu Rajagopalan expands her footprint across the city following a strong launch and rising demand from families.

What started with a single Drama Kids class has developed into a broader Brampton operation, with Rajagopalan adding locations to meet demand for the brand’s developmental drama programmes.
The latest expansion provides a new milestone for Drama Kids Canada, which has been building its Canadian franchise network since appointing Eleanor “Ellie” Reynolds as its Canadian master franchisee in 2024.
Reynolds, who has more than 15 years of franchising experience, was brought in with a mandate to develop the Canadian market, recruit franchisees and strengthen the brand’s presence across the country. When her appointment was announced, Drama Kids said Canada represented a significant opportunity for the brand, particularly because of what it described as an underserved market for quality drama education.
The strategy is now translating into a growing network of local operators, with Rajagopalan’s Brampton expansion becoming one of the latest examples.
Rajagopalan launched Drama Kids in Brampton with a mission to help children develop confidence, communication skills and creativity through drama. According to the company, the response during her first term was strong enough to generate increased enrolment, waitlists and requests from parents for additional classes and locations.
That demand prompted her to expand across the wider Brampton region. “From the moment I opened my first class, I knew DramaKids had something special,” Rajagopalan said. “Anyone can learn to perform or deliver a great speech.”
Her focus, she said, is on developing confidence and communication skills that extend beyond performance. “My mission as a Drama Kids Principal in Brampton is to help children build the kind of confidence and practice the communication skills that doesn’t end when the spotlight fades,” she said. “The kind of confidence that builds when children believe in themselves, so they walk to every room with authenticity, charm, and a magnetic presence that naturally inspires and connects with others.”
“Watching children grow in confidence and seeing parents ask for more made the decision to expand easy,” Rajagopalan added. “Brampton is full of potential, and I’m committed to reaching every child who can benefit from what Drama Kids offers.”
Rajagopalan’s expansion also builds on the wider Canadian rollout that Drama Kids began under Reynolds.
When Reynolds was appointed Canadian master franchisee, Drama Kids said one of her principal responsibilities would be recruiting new franchisees into the Canadian network and developing a community of franchise owners aligned with the brand’s mission.
The Canadian operation is backed by a global Drama Kids network with more than 45 years of industry experience.
Drama Kids Canada currently states that the global system has 150 franchisees worldwide and reaches approximately 100,000 children each week.
The original Canadian master-franchise announcement described Drama Kids as operating successfully in more than 35 countries, while a separate release noted the wider organisation operating in 38 countries.
The programme is positioned as a self-development system rather than traditional competitive theatre training. Its curriculum focuses on confidence, communication, social skills, self-esteem, creativity and critical thinking, with children encouraged to participate without auditions.
That distinction is central to the brand’s franchise proposition: franchisees are not simply providing drama classes but delivering a structured children’s enrichment programme aimed at developing transferable life skills.
For Drama Kids Canada, the Brampton expansion represents more than another location opening. It demonstrates how an individual franchise territory can develop as demand increases, allowing operators to expand their reach within a market rather than relying exclusively on new franchise recruitment.
“Sindhu embodies the heart of DramaKids,” Reynolds said. “Her passion, her commitment to children, and her belief in our mission make her expansion in Brampton truly inspiring. We are proud to support her as she brings DramaKids to even more families across the region.”
The latest expansion comes as Drama Kids continues to position Canada as a significant growth market for the international children’s enrichment brand.
