Greensleeves Franchisees Expand with Third Territory After Years of Strong Growth

Date:

Greensleeves Lawn Care franchisees Jamie and Lesley Clark have expanded their footprint within the network by acquiring a third franchise territory, reinforcing their long-term commitment to the brand following more than a decade of sustained business growth.

The husband-and-wife team, who currently operate the Doncaster and North Yorkshire territories, have now taken ownership of North Nottinghamshire, further strengthening their presence across the region.

Founded in 1998, Greensleeves Lawn Care is one of the UK’s leading lawn treatment franchise networks, providing lawn care, weed control, fertilisation, moss removal and turf improvement services to residential customers across the country.

The latest acquisition marks a significant milestone in the Clarks’ franchise journey. Since purchasing the Doncaster territory in 2011, they have transformed the business from an annual turnover of £38,000 to £575,000 in 2025, making it one of the strongest-performing territories within the Greensleeves network. After acquiring the North Yorkshire territory, they also increased turnover by £75,000 within the first year.

Their expansion comes amid a period of record performance for Greensleeves Lawn Care, which recently reported its highest-ever turnover figures for both March and April in its 28-year history.

Jamie Clark said the decision to invest in another territory was driven by a combination of local market knowledge, confidence in the franchise model and careful planning. “We’ve always believed there’s real opportunity in the territories we’ve chosen because we know them so well. I’ve lived in Doncaster all my life and Lesley grew up in York, so we understand the local markets, the communities and where the opportunities are,” he said.

“Before taking on any new territory, we do our homework. We look closely at the competition, assess the potential for growth and make sure there is genuine headroom to develop the business. We knew from our experience in Doncaster that the Greensleeves model works, so we felt confident we could apply the same systems and approach to continue growing.”

Lesley Clark said building strong operational foundations had been critical to successfully scaling the business. “We’ve always run the business carefully and made sure we have the right support systems in place before expanding. One of the biggest mistakes growing businesses can make is not having sufficient administrative support. As you grow, the office function becomes more important than ever,” she said.

“Having a strong team behind us allows us to focus on customer service, maintaining standards and developing the business rather than getting tied up in day-to-day administration.”

The Clarks also praised the support provided by the Greensleeves head office team throughout the acquisition process.

“Head Office have been exemplary throughout the acquisition process. Their support has been consistently first-class and they remain readily available whenever guidance or assistance is required,” Jamie added.

“The sales element of the transition was managed exceptionally well, while the system and administrative handover was seamless. The marketing team ensured everything was prepared to a high standard, allowing us to begin focusing on growth from day one.”

Greensleeves Lawn Care Managing Director Cheryl Harper said the Clarks’ latest investment highlights both their entrepreneurial success and the strength of the franchise model. “Jamie and Lesley are a fantastic example of what can be achieved through dedication, consistency and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. They’ve demonstrated an outstanding ability to grow and develop their businesses while maintaining the high standards that Greensleeves is known for,” she said.

Harper noted that the expansion comes during one of the strongest trading periods in the company’s history.“The network has achieved its best turnover in any March or  April in our 28-year history, with April becoming our best-performing month ever, up 8% year-on-year. It’s an incredible reflection of the strength of our franchisees, the demand for our services and the effectiveness of the systems and support we provide.”

With three territories now under their ownership, the Clarks are focused on further expanding their customer base and building on the momentum that has made them one of Greensleeves’ standout franchise success stories.
