The Tomey Group, one of the largest franchise operators of Jimmy John’s, has strengthened its presence in Michigan with the opening of a new outlet in Detroit’s historic Corktown district, marking another milestone in its multi-unit expansion strategy.
Located at 1620 Michigan Avenue, the newly launched restaurant spans approximately 1,600 square feet and offers dine-in, delivery, pickup, and catering services, reflecting the brand’s omnichannel approach to customer convenience.
The opening represents the Tomey Group’s 48th Jimmy John’s unit in Michigan, reinforcing its position as the largest franchisee of the brand in the state and among the top operators nationally.
The family-owned company, headquartered in Farmington Hills, has been associated with the brand for over two decades, having opened its first outlet in Novi. Since then, it has steadily scaled operations across Southeast Michigan, building a strong regional footprint through consistent unit expansion and local market focus.
“We’re thrilled to open our new Jimmy John’s location in the vibrant and historic Corktown neighbourhood and further expand our presence in Detroit,” said Anthony Tomey, CEO of The Tomey Group, highlighting the company’s continued commitment to community-driven growth.
The Tomey Group’s latest opening highlights how established multi-unit franchisees are driving growth in mature markets by deepening regional density rather than expanding into entirely new territories.
Founded in 1983, Jimmy John’s has grown into a major player in the quick-service sandwich segment, with over 2,600 locations globally and a strong franchise-led expansion model.
