Bacha Coffee Expands Across Asia, Enters Philippines with Two Outlets

Date:

The Moroccan luxury coffee brand has opened its first two locations in Metro Manila while expanding in Shanghai and Taipei, strengthening its international retail network under parent company V3 Gourmet.

Bacha Coffee has entered the Philippines with two outlets in Metro Manila, as the Moroccan luxury coffee brand expands across Asia with new openings in mainland China and Taiwan.

The company has opened locations at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City and Greenbelt 3 in Makati City. The Philippine debut coincides with the opening of a new flagship at Taikoo Li Qiantan in Shanghai and a new outlet at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Nanxi Store I in Taipei, according to the company’s latest announcements.

“Bacha Coffee is the product of a rich legacy, a brand that has ripened over storied brews since 1910,” said Taha Bouqdib, President and Chief Executive of V3 Gourmet. “Our latest destinations will ignite the imagination of our guests in the same way that coffee transports us to faraway destinations.” Bouqdib added.

The two Manila outlets introduce Bacha Coffee’s signature retail concept, combining a Coffee Bar, Coffee Boutique and takeaway service. Customers can purchase freshly prepared beverages alongside packaged coffee, accessories and gift collections.

The brand offers more than 200 varieties of specialty coffee made exclusively from 100% Arabica beans sourced from 35 coffee-growing regions worldwide. Its retail offering includes single-origin coffees, flavoured blends and premium gifting products.

Founded in Marrakech, Morocco, in 1910, Bacha Coffee draws on its heritage at Dar el Bacha, a historic palace where its original coffee house was established. The modern business has developed this identity into an international luxury retail concept spanning specialty coffee, hospitality and gifting.

Shanghai Flagship Expands China Presence

In mainland China, Bacha Coffee has opened a 390-square-metre flagship at Taikoo Li Qiantan in Shanghai. The location follows its earlier entry into Beijing at China World Mall.

The Shanghai outlet combines a coffee boutique, takeaway service and coffee room. It also introduces the brand’s first comprehensive all-day dine-in menu in mainland China.

Alongside the physical expansion, Bacha Coffee has launched an official flagship store on Tmall Luxury, extending its reach through China’s online luxury retail market. The move gives the company an additional channel to sell its coffee and gifting collections beyond its physical stores.

In Taiwan, the new outlet at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Nanxi Store I adds another location to the brand’s regional network. The approximately 92-square-metre store combines coffee retail, beverage service and takeaway.

Franchise Model and International Growth

Bacha Coffee operates under V3 Gourmet, the Singapore-based group associated with luxury tea brand TWG Tea. Under Bouqdib’s leadership, the business has expanded across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Its international network includes markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, mainland China, Taiwan, France, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The company’s official locations directory lists its international destinations.

Franchising is a relevant part of Bacha Coffee’s international expansion framework. The brand provides a dedicated franchise enquiry option on its official website, indicating that prospective partners can approach the company about franchise opportunities. However, the company’s latest announcements do not identify the operator of its new Philippine outlets or confirm that the Manila openings were awarded under a franchise agreement.

A documented example of its partner-led expansion is South Korea, where Lotte Department Store announced in 2024 that it had secured exclusive domestic franchise and distribution rights for Bacha Coffee. The agreement illustrates how local partners can support the brand’s entry into individual markets, although it does not establish the operating structure of its Philippine locations.

The latest openings therefore expand Bacha Coffee’s physical presence in Asia, while the extent to which franchise partnerships will drive its next phase of growth remains an important point to watch.
