US sandwich chain PrimoHoagies has added seven franchisees in 2026, expanding its network through new restaurant openings, acquisitions and family-led ownership transitions as it steps up efforts to attract multi-unit operators. The brand is also offering approximately 10–15 existing restaurants for acquisition, primarily across greater Philadelphia and South Jersey, giving prospective franchisees an alternative to developing new locations.
Founded in 1992, PrimoHoagies operates more than 120 restaurants, supported by approximately 80 franchise owners, including 20 multi-unit operators. Its latest expansion reflects a strategy that combines new restaurant development with the transfer of established locations to experienced operators seeking to build larger portfolios.
The franchise additions include operators with experience across restaurant brands, convenience stores, foodservice and real estate. Alvin Patel, an approved franchisee undergoing training, is preparing to acquire an existing restaurant, with the transaction expected to close in early November 2026. His previous multi-unit experience includes Dunkin’, Saladworks and Frutta Bowls. In Raleigh, North Carolina, Dev and Falguni Patel have entered the network by acquiring an existing restaurant and are exploring further expansion.
Family ownership is also contributing to the brand’s development. Patrick McCoyd, a franchisee with nearly two decades of experience in the PrimoHoagies system, has partnered with his son Ian to acquire the Lansdale, Pennsylvania, restaurant. Ian previously managed the family’s Newtown location, providing an established operational background for the new venture.
New restaurant openings are extending the brand’s reach beyond its established markets. Dapyr Enterprises opened a PrimoHoagies restaurant in Middletown, Delaware, on July 21, 2026, bringing together a multi-generational ownership group with experience in home care and food franchising. Meanwhile, Mike and Marianne Corrado opened their Quakertown, Pennsylvania, restaurant on July 1.
PrimoHoagies has also entered airport concessions, opening its first airport restaurant at Terminal A-East of Philadelphia International Airport in February 2026. The location, operated by The Grove, Inc., in partnership with M2 Concepts LLC, features a breakfast menu tailored to airport customers, extending the brand’s reach beyond conventional neighbourhood restaurants.
The company is also developing a smaller restaurant format to widen its site-selection options and improve operating efficiency. The approximately 1,100-square-foot prototype is designed to accommodate in-store dining, takeaway, mobile orders and delivery. Five locations are in development, with the first two planned for Bluffton, South Carolina, and Huntersville, North Carolina.
The move represents a shift from PrimoHoagies’ traditional restaurant footprint of approximately 1,600–2,000 square feet towards units measuring around 1,000–1,200 square feet. Smaller premises could give franchisees greater flexibility when evaluating locations and managing occupancy costs, while supporting the brand’s mix of walk-in and off-premises sales.
The company has also strengthened its leadership team to support expansion. Glen Brandeburg was appointed Chief Operating Officer in August 2026, bringing more than three decades of restaurant and franchise leadership experience. The appointments of Angela Coppler as Senior Vice President of Development, Alex Chu as Chief Financial Officer and Madalyn Weintraub as Vice President of Marketing further strengthen the company’s development, financial and marketing capabilities.
For PrimoHoagies, the combination of acquisitions, new openings and smaller-format restaurants provides multiple routes to expansion. By targeting experienced operators and offering opportunities to take over established locations, the brand is seeking to grow its US network while creating pathways for franchisees to develop multi-unit businesses.
