Magnolia Bakery, the iconic New York-based dessert brand renowned for its banana pudding and classic American baked goods, has appointed Uday Ahuja as Executive Chairman and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), strengthening its leadership team as it accelerates franchise expansion in the United States and international markets.
Ahuja joins Magnolia Bakery after a long association with the brand through RSE Ventures, the investment firm that acquired Magnolia Bakery in 2021. Prior to taking on the new role, he served as Chairman of Magnolia Bakery’s Board and was a senior executive at RSE Ventures, where he played a key role in overseeing investments and supporting the bakery chain’s growth strategy.
The appointment comes as Magnolia Bakery enters a significant expansion phase. The company recently launched its U.S. franchising program and is actively pursuing new domestic and international development opportunities, building on a brand that has evolved from a single neighbourhood bakery in Manhattan’s West Village into a globally recognized name in premium desserts.
In his new role, Ahuja will focus on identifying strategic growth opportunities, supporting franchise development, evaluating investments, and helping scale the business across multiple channels. Industry reports indicate that he has already been closely involved in Magnolia Bakery’s growth initiatives through his work with the company’s ownership group.
“One of the things I’ve always found fascinating about Magnolia Bakery is how deeply people connect with the brand,” Ahuja said while announcing his appointment, noting that he looks forward to working closely with the company’s leadership team as it enters its next chapter of growth.
Leadership Team Takes Shape
The appointment follows another major leadership transition at Magnolia Bakery earlier this year, when Nathan Louer was named Chief Executive Officer. Louer succeeded Bobbie Lloyd, the longtime leader who helped transform Magnolia Bakery into an internationally recognized brand and now serves as Chief Brand Officer, continuing to oversee brand strategy and product innovation.
The strengthened leadership structure is expected to support Magnolia Bakery’s ambitious growth plans, including new franchised locations, international market development, and expansion of its consumer-packaged goods and direct-to-consumer businesses.
Backed by RSE Ventures
Magnolia Bakery has been owned by RSE Ventures since 2021. The investment firm was co-founded by billionaire businessman Stephen Ross and entrepreneur Matt Higgins and has investments spanning sports, media, entertainment, technology, and consumer brands.
Ahuja’s move from the ownership side of the business into an executive leadership role highlights RSE Ventures’ commitment to Magnolia Bakery’s long-term growth strategy and reflects increasing confidence in the brand’s ability to expand globally.
Expansion Momentum Continues
Founded in 1996, Magnolia Bakery has become one of the most recognizable bakery brands in the world, with locations across North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. The company continues to benefit from strong demand for its signature banana pudding, cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and other dessert offerings.
With Ahuja now serving as Executive Chairman and CIO alongside CEO Nathan Louer and Chief Brand Officer Bobbie Lloyd, Magnolia Bakery is positioning itself for its next phase of franchise growth and international expansion as it seeks to further strengthen its presence in key global markets.
