Taco Bell Franchisee Campana Targets 50 UK Sites by 2029

Date:

Backed by a £20 million investment programme, Campana plans to accelerate Taco Bell’s expansion across Wales, the South-West and the Midlands, creating approximately 600 jobs.

Taco Bell franchisee Campana is targeting more than 50 restaurants across the UK by 2029, supported by a £20 million investment programme and financing from HSBC UK. The expansion will strengthen the Mexican-inspired quick-service restaurant brand’s presence across Wales, the South-West of England and the Midlands.

Part of SYMBRO Group, Campana operated 23 Taco Bell restaurants when the funding package was announced in March 2026. The initial programme included six new openings, followed by plans to add up to 12 restaurants annually as the business works towards its 2029 target.

The investment is expected to create approximately 600 jobs and increase Campana’s revenue by 50% to 60%. HSBC UK is also providing a revolving credit facility to support the company’s expansion, including new-site development and restaurant fit-outs.

David Morgan, Finance Director at Campana, said the business had experienced strong demand since opening its first Taco Bell restaurant six years ago. The funding will help the operator bring the brand to more towns and cities, building on its Mexican-inspired menu and value-focused offering.

Paul Lane, Relationship Director at HSBC UK, highlighted Campana’s growth strategy and the opportunities within the UK hospitality sector, with the financing supporting the operator’s next phase of development.

Founded in 2019, Campana is part of SYMBRO Group, which operates approximately 60 quick-service restaurant franchises across the UK and the Netherlands. Its portfolio includes Taco Bell, Subway and Starbucks, giving the group experience across multiple international restaurant brands.

Campana’s financial performance has also supported its expansion ambitions. Its turnover rose to approximately £26.14 million in 2024, from £21.25 million in 2023, while pre-tax profit increased to approximately £2.14 million from £680,837, according to reported company accounts.

Taco Bell, part of Yum! Brands, operates internationally through a combination of company-owned restaurants and franchise partners. Its menu focuses on Mexican-inspired quick-service food, including tacos, burritos and other customisable offerings.

Campana’s planned rollout highlights the role of multi-unit franchise operators in expanding established international brands across regional markets. Reaching more than 50 UK restaurants by 2029 would significantly increase its existing estate and extend Taco Bell’s footprint across the country.
