Mark Szpak succeeds Frank Milner, who moves to the role of Chairman after nearly two decades leading the global education franchise.
Global education franchise Tutor Doctor has appointed Mark Szpak as its new President, marking a leadership transition as the business reports record growth in its UK schools and councils division.
Szpak succeeds Frank Milner, who becomes Chairman after leading the company since 2007. During his tenure, Milner oversaw Tutor Doctor’s international expansion into a network spanning more than 700 territories worldwide.
Szpak has been with the business for 15 years and has worked closely with Milner for the past eight years. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Field Operations, with experience across the US, UK and Canada, working alongside franchise owners and supporting operations across different markets.
His appointment comes as Tutor Doctor looks to build on the momentum of its UK schools and councils division. The model enables franchisees to establish partnerships with schools and local authorities, delivering personalised academic support to students who need additional assistance beyond conventional classroom teaching.
“Taking on this role is a tremendous privilege, particularly at such an important stage in Tutor Doctor’s journey,” said Szpak. He highlighted the achievements of UK franchisees working with schools and local authorities, adding that their progress demonstrates the potential of combining personalised education with strong community relationships.
Szpak identified strengthening education partnerships, sharing successful practices across the network and equipping franchisees with the resources to develop their businesses as key priorities.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining close relationships with franchise owners, drawing on his experience working with operators across 12 countries. “I’ve had the privilege of working alongside owners across 12 countries, their ambition, resilience and commitment continue to inspire me. My focus is on making sure the support we provide evolves with their needs,” he said.
Tutor Doctor operates through a franchise model, with local owners providing one-to-one tutoring and educational support to students. Its international network of more than 700 territories provides a platform for further expansion across established and emerging markets.
With Szpak taking over the presidency, the company is entering its next phase with a focus on franchisee development, expanding institutional partnerships and increasing access to personalised learning.
