Wyndham Enters Frankfurt with First Namesake Brand Hotel

Date:

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has brought its flagship Wyndham brand to Frankfurt, Germany, with the opening of the Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad, marking the first arrival of the namesake brand in the city and strengthening the company’s upscale hotel portfolio in one of Europe’s major business and travel markets.

The four-star hotel, located in Frankfurt’s Lyoner Quartier in the Niederrad district south of the Main River, adds 146 rooms to Wyndham’s German portfolio. The property is operated by Windmill Niederrad GmbH, which becomes a new franchise partner for Wyndham in the DACH region.

The opening also launches a new collaboration between Wyndham and Windmill Niederrad, with the hotel scheduled to undergo renovation over the next 18 months as the partners further develop its offer for both business and leisure travellers.

“Frankfurt is one of Germany’s most dynamic destinations, drawing both global business travellers and leisure guests exploring everything the city has to offer. With Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad, we are bringing our namesake Wyndham brand to this city for the first time and expanding our presence in the country alongside a strong new franchise partner. This milestone reinforces our broader strategy of growing Wyndham’s upscale portfolio across Europe through high-quality properties in key destinations,” said Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Frankfurt provides a significant market for the new hotel. According to Wyndham, Frankfurt am Main recorded more than 15.5 million arrivals and 34.3 million overnight stays in 2025, underscoring its importance as both an international business centre and leisure destination. The city is home to Messe Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest trade-fair organisers, while attractions including the Main Tower, historic Old Town, museums and cultural venues contribute to its tourism appeal.

The Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad is positioned close to major business and sporting destinations, including Deutsche Bank Park, the DFB Campus and the headquarters of the German Football Association. Frankfurt Airport and Frankfurt city centre are each approximately eight kilometres from the hotel and can be reached by public transport.

The six-storey property features 146 Queen and King rooms, including suites and an accessible room. Its design centres on a contemporary lobby and a central atrium featuring a suspended light installation. Dining facilities include a restaurant serving local cuisine, a bar and an outdoor terrace.

For meetings and events, the hotel has three meeting rooms, including a 159-square-metre event space, while a dedicated fitness area caters to guests looking to maintain their routines during their stay.

The hotel’s planned renovation is expected to enhance its positioning within Wyndham’s upscale segment, which combines contemporary accommodation, dining and meeting facilities with the brand’s service proposition.

For Windmill Niederrad, the partnership provides access to Wyndham’s international distribution and brand platform.

“Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad marks our collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in Germany. With its globally recognised namesake brand, trusted reputation for quality and international reach, Wyndham is ideally positioned to showcase this hotel to travellers worldwide. Benefiting from its strategic location near Frankfurt Airport and the city centre, the property offers an attractive proposition for leisure and business travellers alike. We look forward to launching this new partnership and driving long-term success together,” said Raj Reddy, Managing Director, Windmill Niederrad GmbH.

The Frankfurt opening adds to Wyndham’s continued expansion across Europe. The company’s Wyndham, Wyndham Grand and Wyndham Garden brands together now span more than 200 hotels across 16 European countries, according to the company’s latest announcement.

The opening comes as Wyndham continues to expand its franchise-led model internationally. In its second-quarter 2026 results, the company reported 4% year-over-year global system-room growth, excluding rooms associated with Revo Hospitality Group, while its development pipeline reached approximately 261,000 rooms across more than 2,200 hotels as of June 30, 2026. International rooms grew 8% year over year on a reported basis, with international growth excluding Revo reaching 10%.

Wyndham’s broader EMEA expansion has also remained active. The company reported that it opened 126 hotels and more than 11,500 rooms across EMEA in 2025, alongside 173 new signings, as it continued to expand its franchise network across economy through luxury segments.

With the Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad, the company is therefore adding not only another hotel to its European network but also its core Wyndham brand to Frankfurt for the first time, while establishing a new franchise relationship in Germany and creating a platform for further growth in the DACH region.
