Best Buy has launched dedicated consultation spaces inside select IKEA stores in the U.S., deepening a retail partnership that first began with IKEA shop-in-shop experiences inside Best Buy outlets.
The new pilot has opened at IKEA locations in Frisco, Texas, and Tampa, Florida, where Best Buy’s “Blue Shirt” associates are now stationed within IKEA planning areas to advise shoppers on appliances and connected home technology while they design kitchens, laundry rooms, and storage spaces. Staff can also place Best Buy orders and arrange delivery and installation services directly from the IKEA stores.
The move effectively reverses the retailers’ earlier collaboration announced in 2025, when IKEA introduced 1,000-square-foot planning and shopping experiences inside 10 Best Buy stores across Texas and Florida. Those locations combined IKEA room designs with Best Buy appliances and technology products, supported by staff from both brands.
At the time of the original rollout, IKEA U.S. Chief Operations Officer Rob Olson said the partnership aimed to create “a one-stop destination” for customers planning kitchens, storage solutions, and laundry spaces by combining IKEA’s home furnishing expertise with Best Buy’s appliance and technology offerings.
The collaboration reflects a broader trend of experiential retail partnerships as both companies seek to increase accessibility and convenience for shoppers. IKEA has been accelerating its small-format and planning-focused retail strategy in the U.S., including city-center stores, pickup points, and planning studios. The company recently announced plans to open 10 new U.S. locations in 2026.
For Best Buy, the initiative comes amid wider operational changes. The retailer recently announced that CEO Corie Barry will step down later this year, with longtime executive Jason Bonfig set to succeed her.
