Smoothie King is placing store redesign at the centre of its broader brand transformation strategy as the company looks to strengthen its leadership in the health-and-wellness quick-service segment.
The Dallas-headquartered brand recently unveiled a major “brand evolution” plan focused on refreshed store aesthetics, expanded menu offerings, upgraded customer experiences and a new national marketing campaign titled “The Best Kind of Delicious.” The initiative marks one of the biggest strategic shifts in the company’s 50-plus-year journey.
According to the company, the redesigned stores are aimed at creating a warmer and more approachable environment for guests, moving away from what it described as a “stark, functional aesthetic” from earlier formats. The updated interiors feature branded artwork, greenery, redesigned menu boards, updated lighting and a warmer colour palette. One of the standout additions is a smoothie-inspired installation made using the brand’s iconic red straws.
“This brand evolution is about building on what we started more than 50 years ago and reinforcing the role only Smoothie King can play in the category we created,” said Gavin Felder, President of Smoothie King. He added, “By expanding our menu, investing in our in-store experience, and innovating in partnership with our franchisees, we’re strengthening our leadership position while building a powerful platform ready to scale for our next 50 years.”
The redesign initiative has been developed using consumer research and performance data as the brand responds to changing consumer expectations around wellness-focused dining and experiential retail. Claudia Schaefer, Chief Marketing Officer at Smoothie King, said the company has “redefined how we show up across every touchpoint.” She further noted, “From our menu to our messaging to the in-store experience,” the transformation is designed to better reflect the company’s mission of “nourishing healthy habits.”
The store redesign is being rolled out alongside significant menu innovation. Smoothie King is expanding beyond smoothies with its growing “Power Eats” platform, which includes protein boxes, loaded toasts and upcoming flatbread offerings. To support the food expansion, the company is also rolling out ovens across its system at no additional equipment cost for existing franchisees.
The transformation strategy is closely tied to the company’s aggressive expansion plans. Smoothie King revealed it currently has more than 200 new store commitments and over 1,500 available trade areas in its development pipeline. In 2025, the brand opened 74 new stores and signed 101 franchise commitments across 47 unique DMAs in the United States. The company also entered new markets such as Utah and Minnesota while exploring non-traditional locations, including military bases.
Financially, the momentum has also been strong. Industry reports noted that the franchise system generated approximately $760.4 million in sales in 2025, reflecting continued demand for wellness-oriented food and beverage concepts.
The brand’s new national campaign, “The Best Kind of Delicious,” is now being rolled out across television, connected TV, out-of-home advertising, social media and digital platforms. The campaign positions Smoothie King as a trusted nutritional authority at a time when consumers are increasingly overwhelmed by online health and nutrition advice.
The company’s renewed focus on guest experience and operational innovation is already translating into business results. Smoothie King recently reported the biggest sales weekend in its history during June 2025, driven by strong consumer response around National Smoothie Day and the company’s evolving menu strategy.
Looking ahead, Smoothie King plans to open more than 90 new locations in 2026 as it continues investing in franchise development, menu innovation, technology upgrades and modernized store experiences.
