Papa Johns UK franchise partner Jaswinder Singh Chatha has retired after 29 years in the franchise industry, handing his 19-store operation across London and the South East to his son, Preet Chatha.
The business, previously known as Chatha Franchises, has been renamed PSC Pizza Group, with Preet taking over the family-run franchise operation. The transition follows a period of rapid expansion, with the group growing its Papa Johns estate from seven stores to 19 under Preet’s leadership.
Chatha entered the UK in 1995 and started his franchise journey with Domino’s in March 1997, according to his son. The family later moved into Papa Johns, building a multi-unit operation across London and the M25.
Preet’s expansion included the acquisition of nine Papa Johns locations, taking the group from nine to 18 stores, followed by the opening of its 19th restaurant in Bromley. His LinkedIn profile confirms the 19-store milestone and the completion of the group’s South East London development project.
Preet has also reported 90 consecutive weeks of year-on-year growth as the business expanded, although financial figures for the operation have not been disclosed publicly.
The family succession keeps the 19-store portfolio within the Chatha family, while the newly named PSC Pizza Group plans to continue developing its Papa Johns presence within its existing territory.
Papa Johns operates a largely franchised model in the UK, with franchisees responsible for operating individual restaurants under the brand. Its UK franchise proposition includes an initial £18,500 plus VAT franchise fee per restaurant, alongside ongoing management services and national marketing fees based on net sales, according to published franchise information.
The Chatha transition provides another example of multi-unit franchise ownership evolving into a second-generation family business, with the next generation taking control of an established estate rather than starting a new franchise operation from scratch.
