Australian hair salon franchise Just Cuts has entered the Canadian market with the opening of its first-ever salon at Stone Road Mall in Guelph, Ontario, marking a major milestone in the company’s international expansion journey. The launch is the first of four planned salons in Ontario, with additional locations set to open in London, Hamilton and Toronto over the next six months.
The Canadian debut follows more than two years of market preparation led by Global Chief Operating Officer David Mathie, who spearheaded the brand’s entry strategy, franchise recruitment and operational setup. The opening generated strong public response, with customers queuing before the salon opened and more than 30 prospective franchisees attending the company’s Canadian franchise discovery event, signalling healthy demand for the brand’s proven walk-in salon concept.
“This is a very proud moment for everyone at Just Cuts and for Australian franchising. Opening the doors to our first Canadian salon is the result of years of planning and belief in our model, and it’s just the beginning,” said Denis McFadden, Founder of Just Cuts.
McFadden added that Canada was a natural choice for international expansion due to its cultural similarities with Australia. “Canada has always stood out as a market that shares many of the same values as Australia; great service, strong communities and busy lifestyles. We’re excited to partner with Canadian entrepreneurs, create rewarding careers for local stylists and build salons that feel genuinely connected to the communities they serve.”
The company said its Canadian expansion has been carefully phased. Prior to opening its first salon, Just Cuts showcased its franchise opportunity at The National Franchise Show in Toronto and introduced its Justice Professional Haircare retail range to help establish brand awareness among Canadian consumers.
The next wave of openings will include salons at Masonville Place in London (November 2026), Limeridge Mall in Hamilton (January 2027) and Dufferin Mall in Toronto (January 2027). The franchisor is also evaluating additional opportunities across Ontario as it builds its presence in Canada.
Founded in 1982, Just Cuts pioneered the no-appointment salon model, allowing customers to walk in for professional haircuts or join a virtual queue through its Just You App. The simplified business model focuses on haircut services rather than complex chemical treatments, enabling efficient operations and consistent customer experiences.
Today, the franchise operates more than 230 salons across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada, employing around 3,500 stylists who collectively serve more than 100,000 clients every week. The company is actively seeking franchise partners to accelerate its Canadian growth.
