Burger King is testing a new line of sliders in select U.S. markets, marking its entry into a smaller-format burger segment as the chain continues to expand its menu innovation beyond core offerings like the Whopper.
The brand has introduced its “King Size Sliders” in Portland, Oregon and Columbus, Ohio, with the limited-time test scheduled to run from April 14 through early May, depending on the market. The sliders are being positioned as a flexible, snackable option, allowing customers to mix and match either two or six pieces in a single order.
The test menu features three variants: a Deluxe Slider with lettuce, tomato, pickles and burger aioli; a Steakhouse Bacon Slider topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, crispy onions and peppercorn sauce; and a Bacon & Cheese Slider with American cheese and bacon. All items are built around the chain’s signature flame-grilled beef patty, served on a smaller, buttery bun.
Burger King is positioning the sliders as both a snack and a customisable meal solution, targeting consumers seeking variety and portion flexibility without committing to a full-sized burger. The company has not disclosed pricing, indicating it may vary across test locations.
A broader rollout will depend on guest response and operational performance in the test markets, according to the company. The move signals Burger King’s intent to build out a new burger sub-category, potentially opening up additional dayparts and group-order occasions.
The slider test comes shortly after the chain refreshed its flagship Whopper for the first time in nearly a decade, upgrading ingredients, packaging and overall build while retaining its core flame-grilled patty.
The initiative also aligns with parent company Restaurant Brands International’s ongoing focus on value platforms and menu innovation, as the brand looks to strengthen traffic and compete more aggressively across price tiers and formats.
