KFC Enters Value Wars with Taco Bell-Style Bundles

Date:

KFC has introduced a new range of bundled meals priced at $7, $9 and $11 in the U.S., stepping up its push on affordability as competition intensifies across quick-service chains. The ‘Value Feast Boxes’ are structured as full meals, combining multiple chicken items with fries and a drink, and are being positioned as everyday value rather than a limited-time promotion.

The offering marks a clear shift in strategy for the brand, which has struggled to gain traction with lower-priced deals in the past year. This time, KFC is borrowing from a model that has worked well within its own parent company, Yum! Brands, where Taco Bell has driven traffic through aggressively priced bundled meals.

The three-tier structure is designed to appeal to different spending levels while maintaining the perception of a complete meal. The entry-level $7 box includes a Snacker, nuggets, fries and a drink, while the higher-priced options scale up portions with additional sandwiches and tenders. The company is pitching the bundles as offering steep savings compared to ordering items individually, with discounts in some cases approaching 50 percent.

The move comes at a time when value has become a central battleground for fast-food chains in the U.S., with consumers increasingly trading down and seeking larger portions at lower price points. Taco Bell’s success with its ‘Cravings’ and ‘Luxe Cravings’ boxes has set the pace, prompting other brands within and outside the Yum portfolio to respond with similar formats.

KFC is backing the launch with a national marketing push featuring Colonel Sanders, emphasising abundance and satisfaction rather than just price. The messaging reflects a broader recalibration underway at the chain, as it looks to regain momentum through sharper pricing, simplified menus and more competitive everyday offerings.

For franchise operators, the new boxes signal a return to high-impact value platforms as a primary traffic driver, rather than short-term promotions, an approach that is quickly becoming standard across the quick-service sector.
