U.S based bridal retailer David’s Bridal has rolled out a new AI-driven shopping experience by integrating its product assortment directly into ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, allowing customers to browse and purchase wedding attire within conversational interfaces.
The move is part of the company’s broader push to become a digital-first retailer under its “Aisle to Algorithm” strategy, aimed at embedding commerce within emerging AI ecosystems.
Through the integration, users on ChatGPT can explore products by attributes such as silhouette, while Copilot users can view collections along with available sizes and colours. Product cards within the chat interfaces display images, pricing, ratings and descriptions, enabling a seamless discovery-to-purchase journey.
In a significant step beyond discovery, the retailer is also enabling end-to-end transactions within AI chats. Customers can browse real-time inventory and complete purchases without leaving the conversation, effectively compressing the traditional e-commerce funnel into a single interaction.
To support this shift, David’s Bridal has begun auditing and restructuring its inventory data, tagging products across multiple attributes including neckline, fabric, train length and size range. The effort is designed to make merchandise more compatible with AI-driven search and recommendation systems, where structured data plays a critical role in visibility.
CEO Kelly Cook said the initiative reflects a broader change in consumer behaviour, noting that product discovery and purchasing are increasingly happening within AI environments. The integration also enables the company to track how users search and shop across these platforms, offering insights into demand patterns and conversion drivers.
The development builds on the company’s earlier AI investments, including its Pearl Planner tool, which assists couples with wedding-related tasks such as venue selection, guest management and event planning.
David’s Bridal joins a growing cohort of retailers experimenting with AI-native commerce, including Klarna, Instacart and Shopify, all of which are building conversational shopping experiences. Major players like Amazon and Walmart, along with fashion platforms such as Zalando, are also integrating AI-led discovery and recommendations, signalling a broader shift toward in-chat transaction.
